Fifty two weeks ago, I arrived on the Ice.
Fifty three weeks ago, I left home.
Today, I finally leave.
At 2 o'clock today, I board a C-17 Air National Gaurd cargo jet and fly back to Christchurch. I've spent the last year working 60 hour weeks in a place without trees and, for many months, without any sun.
It's been a very interesting year, and I've learned a lot in the kitchen and about myself. But it's time to go now.
I'll be spending the rest of October vacationing on the south island of New Zealand, enjoying the spring/early summer weather and the great outdoors. I don't have too set of travel plans, except for the five day bike trip along the Otago Rail trail. I'll be spending the first part of the trip in the Christchurch area, and after the bike trip I'll be heading to the north part of the south island to the Kaikoura, Nelson, and Picton area.
And then I'm coming home.
There are a number of things that I would like to talk about, but they would take forever to type up, and I'd rather spend my last couple of hours just hanging out and relaxing.
I'll be online in New Zealand, so if anyone wants to throw me a line, I'll be happy to hear from you. If not, well, I look forward to hanging out with everyone once I get back home.
