Has anybody in here ever played the table-top/pen & paper Dragon Age RPG?

I have, in fact! Any reason in particular you're asking?

I have the book and am reading it through. I have quite a bit of experience with playing RPGs but I haven't played this one yet. I was wondering if people knew about it and what their experiences with it were.

For the most part, I liked the system. My GM is an experienced one and an avid player of the video games, and he ran an entertaining story set five years prior to Origin.

My one gripe--and it was a major gripe--was that, playing an archer rogue, I ran into some serious efficacy problems in combat as we leveled. As the bad guy's armor also improved, I reached a point where I very rarely could do damage, and only if I rolled doubles and could do a Feat. My GM took my woes to a forum, and they chalked it up to 'bad dice luck', but I think it was a flaw in the system.

The only other thing was that we wound up making a lot of house rules to make the game feel more like the video game; the magic system was another one that got heavily re-worked.

Wow, thanks for the hints!

Yes, armour soak is kinda shitty if your damage output does not scale along with it.

That was exactly my problem. :)

Now, it could have been my problem, because I wasn't putting level up stats into Strength or whatever the stat is (it's been a long time since I've looked at the system XD), but I would think with a high enough Dex, you could better pick your targets to find a chink in the armor somewhere. But the system didn't seem to allow for that, relying on rolling doubles.

I've had that problem with with Zevran in Origins. I didn't give him enough strength, so his damage was lowered.
