[Poop and complaints. I'm not kind] Everything else that had bugged me about the book I understood. The ogres were there because the author has contempt for the standing lore. Caronel says he joined the Wardens in Ferelden when he actually (according to Word of God) joined outside of there, because the author is really bad at putting words together to form the correct meanings - you know, writing.
But Flying Aravels? Where the fuck did that even come from? That came from so far left of field that I actually stopped reading to research the subject. It was so different from what I understood that I started to wonder if it were I that had made a fundamental error in assumption.
After looking around for a while, I found two references that could mean Flying Aravels within the same codex. I'll quote.
Someone once told me that humans flee when they see the sails of our aravels flying above the tops of trees. I say, good, let them flee. The humans took everything from us--our homeland, our freedom, our immortality. What's a

From the flying aravels I was reading the rest of the book as a badly written AU fanfic. It helped to get through to the end. One day someone will write a GOOD DA book and we'll forget that this horrible thing ever happened. I haven't commented much here because... I am disappoint. That's all there is to say about the Last Flight.
Did they say what series the author was a fan of? Because being hardcore in the twilight fandom doesn't seem to have helped them when it came to this book.
Can you trust the bits of lore coming from the book? The Archdemon has magic like abilities that have no connection to the Fade. It's been said twice now. Now is that the author knowing something we don't, or is it the author making things up again?

Merciel has put the bar on the ground. I've turned my brain off as I peel through the candy floss and wait for the lore bits trapped in the fluff.
So I guess that's why my reaction isn't as vitriolic. Vitriol requires some level of investment.
