I got done reading the chapter to write the synopses and I'm like "Wow...that's it?"

I'm not sure what I think about so little happening in an entire chapter. The combat was lovingly described, but I found myself halfway through starting to skip entire paragraphs.

Julien dying will probably be significant, but...wow. That's it in terms of plot advancement? :/

I don't know, they're gay and they're dead, as is the ancient tradition. I think we need to ask, why does Gaider hate gay people?
