"I'll be in in a minute, I have to finish this," he dipped his quill and began scratching away again.

Hawke dropped her hand from his shoulder. "Well, when you want breakfast, you can get it from Orana, I'll probably already be gone," she informed him briskly, and he made a sound of curiosity, looking out the window.

"Breakfast? What time is it?"

She frowned. "I fell asleep waiting for you to come to bed."

He looked down at the latest draft of his manifesto. "Oh."

She walked back to him, draping her arms around his neck and kissing below his ear. "There's still time left to make it up to me," she murmured and he sighed. He took one of her hands in his and pressed it to his lips.

"I'll be to bed soon, I promise," he said softly, and she drew her arms away from him.

He didn't even seem to notice.

What were the chances that in his life as a Templar he'd see two Circles fall ( ... )

Oh Cullen ;_; *cuddles* Excellent - loved the acknowledgement of how like Meredith he once was...

I think Cullen's sort of like a moderate. More on the right than Gregoir, but definitely not as extreme as Meredith

Definitely. And the events of game serve to make him more like both (mages are people, but they must be watched), which really cements him in that middle ground. I think in that vein, he's the best of them; I also really adore that he seriously considers education being the way to make the mages and templars understand each other. I wanted to KISS him for that. Our boy's all grown up! *makes choked noise*

I think if Mages and templars were taught together, raised together, they would come from a place of "family" protection you know?

Like, "I'd never become a blood mage because it'd make my Templar sad"

It'd be like, "Templars: The Anti-Blood Mage"

In a way where it's like... Finn and that Templar from the tower, how he was like

D: "Finn, be careful!"

And Finn was like, "OMG I CAN TAKE CARE OF MYSELF!!! D<"

If it comes from a brotherly/sisterly place then I think it'd cut down on Abomination Nations.

But it was to start young and I think (you know, if this were like "real life") if every mage and templar were paired from a young age together

And it really was, "This is your mage/this is your templar" it would help immensely.

Oh yeah, DEFINITELY. I was rather fond of that idea myself when the topic was brought up awhile back. As a system it wouldn't be without problems, but I do agree that it would definitely solve a fair number of them. (Loved that bit with Finn!)

Gregoir and Irving were totally this way, I know it.

Irving: D< I'm a grown man, I don't need some kid templar!
Young Gregoir: D< I'm going to be Knight Captain one day!
Irving: yeah and I'll be first Enchanter, Get away from me!

YEARS LATER

Gregoir: Irving, you forgot your staff. *carrying*
Irving: *snatches* STOP MOTHERING ME!
Gregoir: D< AND YOU FORGOT YOUR STUPID HAT, BUT YOU CAN'T HAVE IT NOW!*leaves with it*
Irving: D< ...*follows* Gimme my hat!
Gregoir: AWAY WITH YOU MAGE!

"...are the Knight Commander and First Enchanter... playing chase?"
"Just be quiet and keep watch."

I WANT THIS FIC.

(Especially when Irving figures out Gregoir and Wynne "dallied" (Gregoir+Wynne=Cullen is a theory I will never give up lol) They are SUCH gossipy busybodies and I LOVES THEM. I can just see them playing chess in the evenings and sniping at each other...why do I keep picturing the old guys from "Return to Me"?)

I think Wynne is a little younger than Irving...

Gregoir: And you BEARD IS RIDICULOUS!
Irving: *AGHAST* YOU...WHY YOU *takes chessboard*
Gregoir: D: WAIT, IRVING! COME BACK!!

"...is the Knight Commander chasing after Irving again?"
"Stop asking questions and keep watch..."
"Yeah, but it's -."
"Shh! Cullen."

All the more reason for Irving to disapprove in a Chris-Hanson-esque manner.

Also, Irving and the word "aghast" together are making me giggle. No idea why. Perhaps it's just "aghast" is always a funny face?

It is, plus we all know Gregoir encouraged him to grow it.

wow, this was really, really, really good.

When I finished DAO i thought cullen had just gone nuts but, in DA2, we see that he never let go of his humanity, and I think you captured that brilliantly...
Oh, ser cullen! /swoon

Thank you! I've always loved Cullen, I think he was more personally hurt during the fall of the Circle because of what they taunted him with. Cullen was found behind a magic barrier though, one Irving or another mage created. He probably went through some ptsd
