(no subject)

i was browsing livejournal's and xanga's and meetspot's. it seems that everyone who has a significant other, feels obligated to say I LOVE YOU. i mean, you've been dating for 4 days and it's love? i can understand if you've fallen in love before going out, but if not, what the heck. is love the cool new thing? i hate stupid wankers that misuse it.

what is love? i think love is just a word, but it's subjective. it's like truth. everyone has their own definition of it. i know what love is because i've felt it. i thought it would last, but then my definition of it changed due to what i experienced. each experience will cause me to change my definition and to find out more and more about what i believe love really is. and it's a way of finding out more and more about yourself, as a person.

if it's there, you'll know it. or it just might be there if you want it to be. forced or not, it's love. it's a feeling, just like happiness and sadness. it's a chemical reaction in your brain. sometimes, it just happens. other times, you bring it upon yourself. not believing in love is like not believing in happiness, sadness, hunger, pain, and everything else that is basically a chemical reflex on your brain.

well, actually, truth is not subjective. truth is absolute. everyone's perception of the truth is subjective, but that doesn't make the truth itself subjective. perception is not reality.

and i guess love isn't really a chemical reaction. not purely, at least. there are definitely chemical elements that are involved in physical attraction between people, those being hormones and pheromones, but scientists are finding extreme difficulty to find a physiological basis for any emotion, especially love. even if there is a connection, you need to consider whether a chemical reaction triggers love or whether love triggers a chemical reaction.

i need to stop contradicting myself.
