Katherine Deane is in the spotlight today with her new book, Cassie and the Fire Captain. I have to say this was a very fun book. A funny, sassy heroine and a hunky fire captain who will spank, what’s not to like?I think Katherine had as much fun writing it as I did reading it as well. Didn’t you, Katherine?
Thanks so much for having me today, Ruth! Cassie and the Fire Captain was a lot of fun to write. The tomboy / town prankster meets her match in the town’s new hunky fire captain. In the following short excerpt, Cassie realizes that big, strong, handsome, Eric might be the first person to ever see what she really needs - some discipline. J
Excerpt:
“Oh, you’re one of those kind of guys.” She rolled her eyes.
“What kind of guy is that? And by the way, I don’t like having young ladies roll their eyes at me. I find it disrespectful.”
Oh for Peteness sake. “You are obviously the kind of guy who has to always be right, and in charge, and probably caters to archaic forms of structure and discipline in his house.” She wrinkled her nose and he laughed.
“Actually I do have certain feelings about men and women in relationships. Mutual respect, structure, good communication, and yes, occasional…” his eyes twinkled, “discipline.”
She huffed, and turned her head. Surely this man was not suggesting what she thought. And if he was suggesting it, would he follow through? “So let me guess, you keep your wife barefoot, pregnant, in the kitchen, and you beat her whenever she ticks you off.”
“Not even close.” He smiled and stood. “My ex-wife was an interior decorator who worked outside the home, and though she was quite often barefoot, she did not become pregnant, despite our repeated attempts, and she almost never set foot in the kitchen.” He turned to her, and his eyes darkened. “And no matter how much she baited me, and pushed me, I did not beat her. I would never hit a woman in anger.”
“Oh, well good.”
“But I did turn her over my knee, and spank her little bottom until she apologized.”
She swallowed, almost choking on a large exhale, and leaned forward onto the box. “You…spanked her?”
“Yes. For swearing and rolling her eyes at me, amongst other things,” he said.
“Do you spank all the women you date?”
“Only the ones I like.” He grinned. “I like you
When twenty-four-year-old Cassie Stevens meets Eric Waters, her town’s hunky new fire captain, she assumes he is way out of her league. Cassie isn’t a beauty queen like her mother, and a mature, no-nonsense man like Eric would never be attracted to a fun-loving tomboy like her, especially considering her penchant for getting herself in trouble. So it comes as a shock when he stops by the diner where she works, steers her out of an altercation with some rude customers, and promptly asks her out on a date.
It doesn’t take Cassie long to realize that she has finally met the man of her dreams, and Eric seems to enjoy her sense of humor and playful ways. But after she pulls a foolish prank on him during their first date, he takes her over his knee for a spanking, and she quickly discovers how much a man’s firm hand can sting when applied to a naughty girl’s bare bottom.
Eric’s attention and affection make Cassie feel more loved than she has ever felt before, and despite her sore bottom, his discipline leaves her aroused and yearning to be his. But just as she’s about to give him her heart, it seems he’s no longer interested. Can Cassie put aside her fears and trust Eric, or will her doubts set off a chain of events which will tear their relationship apart?
Publisher’s Note: Cassie and the Fire Captain is an erotic romance novel that includes spankings, sexual scenes, and more. If such material offends you, please don’t buy this book.
