I've finally seen Inglourious Basterds (took me long enough, considering I intended to see it in theatres) and it was well worth the wait, oh my gosh. Loved it. Probably should have seen it while I was still able to look at Eli Roth without thinking about him cybering with half of
ohnotheydidnt, but what can you do. Even apart from that, though, I really don't understand why the internet latched so much onto the Bear Jew when the best character in the goddamn movie is QUITE CLEARLY Shosanna. Ah well. (All the characters were magnificent, actually, especially Landa, but... SHOSANNA. COME ON.)
(UNF THIS WHOLE SEQUENCE. It was the war paint shot on top of all the word of mouth that convinced me I needed to see this film. And then it turned out to be set to Bowie! I am actually considering going back and rewatching just that bit.)
I do approve of the fact that I didn't even notice Tarantino's cameo this time through, because his more obvious cameos inevitably annoy the piss out of me. I may enjoy his films but I have zero interest in Quentin's bloated ego, sry2say.
Other movies I've seen over the holiday so far: Up, which was absolutely adorable and the first ten minutes really are heartbreaking but it's not the best Pixar's ever done, and Clueless for obvious reasons. No, I hadn't seen it the whole way through before. I HAVE MENDED MY WAYS. I only got around to seeing The Breakfast Club after John Hughes died, too, to be honest. :| Mind you, it did come out four years before I was born.
