I was eating something the other day. I think it was a sandwich. Or maybe it was a chicken thigh. Or perhaps it was a banana. I don't know, but whatever it was, I'm sure I enjoyed it immensely.
While I was eating this thing, I had a sobering realization. I realized that I could choke at any moment, and that was a scary thought. I was tempted to count my bites (I think it's like 26 bites before you swallow or something), but that's a pretty idiotic thing to do.
I'm afraid of choking, I now know more than ever. I've always been deathly afraid of drowning, but duh -- it's water. And you're not immersed in a body of water near as often as you eat (coming within mere millimeters of dying every single time).
So, I think that I conclude that choking to death is scarier than drowning to death. Whether it be by getting an apricot stuck in your trachea, having some big, burly guy strangle the hell out of you, or having a boa constritor do away with you, choking to death would suck.
Merry Christmas everybody!
And God Bless us, every one.
