Ok, after 5 years of delays, my parents finally had their day in court against the Transportation Department of the State of West Virginia concerning Corridor D. Corridor D is the road WV build through the town I grew up in. It changed my Dad's restaurants location from being the 1st restaurant off of Rt77 and put him a mile off of 77 adding 3 additional turns and an extra exit.
The jury awarded him just enough to get the restaurant out of debt which it has incurred during this time to keep itself open. I do not believe that after this they will be able to stay open, but my parents say they are not going to make any rash decisions. I think it will be closed in 6 months.
To sum it all up....because of this road, my parents have gone from being millionaires to making less money than me, probably not even having jobs in six months and not have anything to retire on. It was pretty much set up that when my parents died, myself, my two sisters and my brother would all be sitting pretty. Now, I don't know if there will even be enough money to bury them.
My parents have put their hearts and souls into this restaurant. My dad has worked 80 hours a week my whole life and now they have nothing to show for it. Looks like they are going to have to start all over in their 50's.
