Last night I was happy as a pig in.... [cough] um... I was happy due to the release of SimPE for Apartment Life. I was just about to install it on my big machine & install my story 'hoods when I remembered I will need the CEP by Numenor before I can play with the required downloads folder for those saves.
So I go & look... & BAM! He's updated it. It's not finished, it's a watch this space for the AL stuff to be recolourable, but it's now at least compatible. Hurrah! It's
here at MTS2 =D
Figuring I'd keep browsing my hack bookmarks while I was on a roll I looked over at MATY... sure enough, the Apartment Life hack list has received a modification today. So that's nice & updateed too =)

& Now For Something Completely Different.
I mentioned last night that my vision is getting better. My right eye isn't seeing in grey scale now - massive smegging yay! - & I'm not seeing double unless my headaches are in the worse than normal zone. Left eye still bloody twitches. Fracking thing. Anyway. I've been burying myself in all manner of photography stuff.
I had my first shoot since the flare up last week, working with the graduating artists of Swan Tafe in Midland doing their portraits for their grad show catalogue. Processed that, was really happy with it & then started importing all my still unprocessed photos from Cambodia into Lightroom to start work. I've gotten through a few hundred. Not quite a third of the way through, & enjoying doing personal shots instead of work ones for a change. Why must I shoot RAW in everyday snaps as well as the professional stuff?
Normally I leave this sort of stuff for my other journal but I really want to gloat share... the following shot is a massive happy dance imbuing thing for me. Here's why.
We left the guest house in Siem Reap early & headed a long way out of town down a dirt with some gravel 'road' on a tuk tuk. It was boggy & bumpy & did my back no good, even though last year it wasn't too bad. We went to Banteay Srei temple which was crawling with tourists who purposefully stood in front of other people's lenses & were all manners of rude. In bad moods & sore, we headed further out on suggestion from our tuk tuk driver (who had by now become our good friend) to a mountain called "Phnom Kulen" where the river of 1000 Linga is. Korsol says, "Waterfall" & I immediately think "DAMN IT - my tripod is next to the bloody bed!" We're an hour out of Siem Reap, too bad so sad.
The climb is arduous. Its a narrow goat trail, up a steep mountain, wrapped in jungle & parts involved Pete having to help me up 6 foot boulders. Both of us are carrying a backpack of camera gear each... roughly 3-6kg. Plus 1.5L water bottles. The waterfall was awesome. Not huge, but very serene & worth the climb. But we continue up towards the carvings of the Linga.
This shot is my favourite (& a few other people's fav) from the climb. I'm leaning over a rope fence, pointing my camera back upriver with the settings on long exposure to mist the water slightly, while I hope like hell I can keep the camera still enough. Full manual except focus, not looking through the view finder just guessing.
HAND-FRACKING-HELD-LONG-EXPOSURE
Yes I'm proud. It's probably one of my best shots ever.
On the way back down I stacked it down one of those massive boulders, landed on my arse & thankfully didn't damage any equipment... just snapped my sunglasses. So dust in eyes the whole way back to Siem Reap & the moment I sat at the bar at Molly Malones with a Gin & Tonic the pain hit for real. I spent the next 2 days drugged to the nines in bed with room service (in a $25 per night guesthouse with satellite telly - I love that place, I really really do). You know what? That photo makes it all worth it.
If you're bored & want to waste time at work see some more of my Cambodia shots, you can find them at my
gallery. If you find you like hearing me go on about photography & places & random things, then my normal journal is
draganin & you're welcome to friend it or read it or both or none.
I'm being really sporadic with my LJ-ness at the moment & I'm terribly sorry. I might read & run instead of commenting as I'm meant to be working on two books. One is (thankfully) mostly finished & the other is about to have the shoots begin.
madame_ugly, do you remember me telling you about the shoe book? It's begun. Mwahaha. If you are intrigued or want to take part, there's more info
here Anyway. I'm going to shut up & install my hacks & go play my story hoods & relax. Its been 2 weeks now since I played the sims at all & that was just to set up the Simsperiments for
pixel_trade. Shock huh?
