Peek-A-Boo....

So I'm working on something rather evyl at the moment. No, not telling what. Suffice it to say that it's none of my normal stuff & you're probably going to cringe or laugh or cry or all of the above. No idea. Cross that bridge when we come to it, neh?

I've got the Lotfullofsims hack in my game at the moment. Not updated for AL, I figured it's just for now & am taking the chance with a throwaway hood. Currently I have 10 sims on the lot.... with Free Will turned on. At one point, there were SIX toddlers.

PURE HELL. HOW DO YOU PEOPLE DO IT?!?

To make matters worse, Apartment Life is driving me batshit insane. Or rather, more so. Okay yes I love the Peek-a-boo interaction.... when it's appropriate. Not every single moment that a nearby adult remembers there's a toddler on the property. I swear, if they remembered to feed & change the sprats as much as they tried to scare entertain them there wouldn't be as much need for me to watch them like a bloody hawk. But no. It's worse than the bloody sandcastle building (Notu: the sandcastles on this lot beat Hope Harbinger's Bill Watterson hommage).

Scenario: Toddler skilling on the rabbit head. Massive queue of unnecessary & unwanted peek-a-boo. Cancel action & BAM - it's right back there in the queue. [sigh]

One thing I noticed on this lot that I've never seen before though; adult fed baby, put bottle on ground, walked away so someone else could get crap out of the fridge. Next thing I know, the adult walks back over to the bottle on the floor, picks it up & promptly proceeds to feed it to the bub for the second time. Has anyone else ever seen this? Is it new?

Back to the Peek-a-boo though. It's not just this lot. Playing in Belladonna Cove; my test sim was at work, older child was at school & toddler was at home with the rabbit head with the OMG USELESS nanny. In 3 years of playing she is the worst nanny I've ever put a sim|family through. I had to watch the toddler's queue to get her to stop standing there on the spot staring. Here's how it went.

[play peek-a-boo] - cancel.
[play peek-a-boo] - cancel.
[pick up 1 toy from floor & put away]
[play peek-a-boo] - cancel.
[play peek-a-boo] - cancel.
[play peek-a-boo] - cancel.
[pick up 1 toy from floor & put away]
[play peek-a-boo] - cancel.
[play peek-a-boo] - cancel.
[play peek-a-boo] - cancel.
[pick up 1 toy from floor & put away] (now there's no toys on the floor, but there are books)
[play peek-a-boo] - cancel.
[play peek-a-boo] - cancel.
[go to bar on roof]

... then the toddler's hunger bar dropped to 3/4 full. Nanny came back downstairs. She went to the fridge, got a bottle for the toddler, which queue stomped his skilling. I wasn't impressed considering the child wasn't even noticeably hungry. But the nanny couldn't get the bottle to the toddler because the skill item was beside him & that would involve better AI (what happened to the little stand up sit down dance that toddlers used to do to line up with adults???). So she grumbled, put the bottle down & walked away. Toddler picked up the bottle, drank it & had full hunger. Meanwhile, the nanny has walked the longest route around the entire apartment to go back to the fridge that was only 4 squares away & has gotten another bottle. [headdesk]

Then she tried to play Peek-a-boo three more times before picking up one of the books on the floor... & then went back to the roof to blend drinks.

Long story short, I would kill for a hack that reduces the constant autonomous want to peek-a-boo to toddlers. XD
