Explaining the whole crossdressing thing.

So, Ryuunosuke has had a rather crappy life up to this point, thanks to her father and what he's done in what vaguely can be called raising her. I'm gonna try and outline my own thoughts on the matter of how Ryuunosuke's father raised her, and how this effected her.

Basically, because her mother some short time after she was born, the old man had pretty much free reign to raise her as he saw fit, and turn her into a man among men able to run his beloved Hamachaya teashop. This has pretty much been through a process of actions that probably could be seen as a form of abuse by innumerable charities, ranging from making her work at the Hamachaya since she was very small, working through the winter when no-one would be dumb to come, telling her nonsensical things like how chocolate is poisonous and made of solid cow's blood, to not letting her buy a bra and insisting her boobs are tumors and just about inadvertently erasing all trace of her mother. Obviously, this makes him not much of an admirable father.

I once heard that Ryuunosuke's father is more like a prizefighter's coach than a father, and in that sense maybe that's true. But we would be a coach that's something like in shonen manga, who puts their fighter through almost insanely dangerous tasks in order to become the bgest. And the sad thing is that Hamachaya really is a crappy place: it's old and ramshackle, and the two of them once managed to tear it down during one of their fights. It's nothing special, apart from being open at times when it really shouldn't be.

No wonder Ryuunosuke's got some much resentment built up in her...

So the net result of this is that, more out of being forced to or just habit than personal desire, Ryuunosuke is almost always dressed as a guy. In camp, this is likely to continue, but I'm pretty sure that will change in certain places. She'll certainly get a bra for sure, though, and maybe wear a skirt or two. But it'll be hard for her to really just become a really girly-girl, because her father's raising her was thorough and the damage was permanent. But she'll be able to do something about herself at least...
