Last night I'm driving home from our full moon circle. It is shortly after midnight - not alot of people on the road. As I approach the toll gate, a guy in a white van suddenly realizes that his gate is closed and he jumps lanes, right in front of me. We go through the toll gate and I see these blue flashy lights behind me. I thought - great, he's going after the dude in the van. I move over. The cop moves over and shines the spotlight.
WTF?! I'm being pulled over!
The state trooper informs me of my burnt out headlight (yup, I was a padiddle). I told him I hadn't had the opportunity to get a new bulb yet, but I would. He gave me a warning and told me to drive safely and I should see to it that I got the light fixed.
I thank the officer and bid him a good night. I continue on my way and I decide to stop at McDonald's for a crappy burger since I was getting hungry. As I'm eating the burger, the onions are falling out, on me - now creating ketchup rorshack tests on my shirt.
I turn onto the main street into my development. Once again I see flashy blue lights behind me.. (this cannot be happening *again*)
I pull over my ketchup stained self and the officer approaches me. I look at him and say "Is this because of the headlight?" He says yes. I continue "Yes, a lovely state trooper pulled me over on the greenway and got me for the same thing. I'm getting it fixed today." He takes my license and registration anyway, then asks where I'm coming from. I told him Maryland, at a friends house. He asks if I've had anything to drink. "Nope". So he gives me a warning and once again in an authoritative manner says "Make sure you get that thing fixed today". "Yes sir, thank you sir. Have a good night."
When I get home, I get into bed (the blue flashy lights still being seen from behind my eyelids). Hubby wakes up just enough to hold my hand. I say to him "You HAD to say something didn't you?" In his sleepiness he said "huh?" I continued.. "You had to mention something today about hoping the cops don't pull me over for the headlight didn't you...."
Honestly folks - the police are more concerned about me only having ONE headlight then the sudden lane shift of someone else who could have caused an accident. The headlight was fixed this morning..
*sigh*
