Common Room gurenpiloting November 28 2011, 22:23:41 UTC
[Kallen has been looking for suitable places to practice the Patronus spell. Unfortunately for her, all the attempts at making that spell work had been unsuccessful. Five times? How ridiculous, she thinks to herself. Being the type to sneak around, she quietly tiptoes inside the common room, making sure not to make a single sound unless she winds up getting caught, which is the last thing she wants to do.

A surprised gasp escapes from her lips at encountering the suit of armor sitting at a nearby desk. Wait, did that thing just move?! Quickly covering her mouth to muffle any noises, she carefully takes a step back, a free hand reaching for her wand just in case.]

[It continues to move writing with a quill in hand. Over the next few seconds as Kallen takes a step back and attempts to wrap it's head around the situation the suit of armor pauses to lower the quill to rest before it lifts up another book and begins to flip through a few pages. A voice barely audible is muttering something about dried billywig stings and nettles, which Kallen would recongize from a potions lesson which all third year Gryffindors had earlier in the day.]

[This shouldn't come as a surprise considering the moving staircases and talking paintings, but nonetheless, she never expects that suit of armor to wind up at the common room of all places. It takes her a while to get over the shock (not completely, but enough to calm some of her nerves and put on a fearless mask), but she eventually takes a few more steps forward, hearing that thing mutter something. She strains her ears, curiosity and caution plastered in her face at once, as she listens intently.

Dried billywig stings and nettles? This has her quirk an eyebrow for sure; either there's a ghost haunting the potions classroom (which wouldn't be so farfetched with all of the ghosts existing over the hallways) or it's a student. Right? The voice sounds faintly familiar to her, and yet she can't figure out as to why.]

Uh, excuse me? Hello?

[Time to put her nagging suspicions to rest with one more step for a careful approach.]

[There's a few more rushed clinks as the hand continues to write as the voice picks up out of the darkness of the stair well. The familiar tone of Kallen's voice causes him to forget himself easily and he pauses to lift the hand holding the quill upwards as he waves slightly.]

Kallen... you're up late. Can't sleep?

[He doesn't sound surprised, with the cold weather and temperature as of late it was difficult to even fall asleep in the first place.]

[... No wonder that voice is familiar. Now that the armor (or rather, the person) says her name, it's when she puts two and two together and widens her mouth in realization, one hand resting on the side of her neck with a huff.]

Alphonse! It's been a while!

[Oops. Time to lower her voice as she approaches some more with a shake of her head.]

Yeah... it's too damn cold in the dorms. Not even the blankets I fluffed up helped at all.

[She tilts her head in confusion, pointing at the suit of armor.]

So, what's with this?

Mmmm. Well, a bit...

[Even between classes it was easy to get lost and caught up in the other groups of students. The ones from this world always seemed to have questions about where they came from and Edward always took up the majority of his free time. As Kallen nears and questions about the suit, he seems to go a little stiff, his tone of voice is automatically defensive.]

I-it's a hobby!

[And the sudden shift in Alphonse's tone makes Kallen quirk an eyebrow.]

A hobby?

[Hello, confusion. She doesn't recall hiding in armors being a hobby unless it involves pranking unsuspecting people, though the boy doesn't seem the type to do so.]

A strange one if you ask me...

[A hobby. He has to resist the urge to smack himself in the helmet for that remark. He said it so suddenly and it was something Ed had said a very long time ago to excuse him back in the day for wearing the suit of armor all the time. Even now he didn't know exactly how wearing a giant metal suit was a hobby. With an echoing sigh he turns in the chair to face Kallen more fully.]

Yeah.... strange... you have no idea.

What kind of hobby?

[She leans a little, still keeping her eyebrow arched in suspicion.]

Are you some sort of cosplayer or something?

[It really doesn't help that he's a terrible liar.]

Cosplayer!?

[His tone still nervous is also filled with confusion. He's not exactly sure what the term cosplayer means, but assuming it has to do with dressing up in armor he rolls with it.]

Yes! That's exactly what I am. Silly,right?

... Right.

[The indignant tone is rather noticeable to Kallen, as she's not exactly buying it, given the suspicion creeping in some more as she speaks.]

Why are you dressing up in armor, anyway?

[The suspicion does not go unnoticed and it only ads to his discomfort. He really does not enjoy lying to people he considers friends.]

The truth?

[His head twists a little thoughtfully as he casts his eyes around the common room. It's empty save for them, so he quietly lowers his voice before speaking.]

...it's because technically I'm still upstairs sleeping.
