Seeker Tryouts

[Madam Hooch will be on stand by to release the golden snitch, each player will have 3 attempts to catch it, before the next players turn. After which, she will be splitting people into groups of two and making the game of catch the snitch a bit more competitive.]

Good luck!

[Ready and reporting for duty. Kaito is very eager to tryout this new sport and he's just sure he'll be the best one here- though a few tricks he'd like to try might give the teachers a heart attack]

I have a question. Is it at all possible to jump off the broom if we have a way to get back on?

Kuroba. Magic and the use of your wand is prohibited during any quidditch match. Muggle gadgets too. So don't go getting any bright ideas. Quidditch is a sport. You play fair like the rest of us.

[Madam Hooch gives him a rather stern glare, the prankster was pushing it with her already. She nudges him forward and toward another student.]

You won't be making the team by just standing around.

(OOC: Mods would highly recommend threading with some of the individuals below! You three could compete to catch the snitch between one another.)

Ah, thanks!

[Akito is excited at the prospect of being given a challenge. Flying is too easy -- broomsticks are much less complicated than A-T, and easier to control. Adding in obstacles and tasks sounds fun, and he's learned enough about Quidditch to know that it isn't scary. It's something he can do. It's like a D-Class Parts War in difficulty, he thinks.]

Beaters & Chasers

[As the original four teams begin to break and head off for their own practices. Students will notice two particular larger students from Slytherin hanging back. Two beater clubs remain in either of their hands as do two bludgers.]

What do you want to say they don't last two minutes?

[The second boy just laughs and before they can say anything else a boy and girl wearing scarlet and gold robes interrupt them with a few well put glares.]

They look like they could give you two a good run for your money.

Let's just get this over with.

[Students interested in being Beaters will be receiving pointers and instruction from the Slytherin boys. For starters, beaters will be running drills on the ground. Beating bludgers back and forth until they master controlling the balls direction. Chasers will be practicing along side Dean Thomas and Ginny Weasley. The two gryffindor chasers will be passing along tips for avoiding bludgers and throwing the quaffle back and forth (at least tree times ( ... )

Beater

[He's not sure how he feels about the two larger boys in green. If he's noticed anything it's that some Slytherins have a penchant for destructive behavior, especially when they think they can get away with it. Keeping a wary on the groups as they split up for their warm up activities, he approaches the small pile of beater clubs and searches for the heaviest among them. Once he's got his club, he waits patiently for someone else to approach for a few practice swings at the bludger with.]

(OOC: Feel free to tag me if you're a chaser looking to dodge a few bludgers towards the end of the tryout day or if you're another beater looking to throw a few bludgers back and forth!)

Trying out for beater as well?

[Russia looks mildly bored, standing out here in his Slytherin robes as people rush about to find their tryout spots. He picks through the clubs until he finds one decently suited and turns to regard the boy standing close by. To be honest he's not quite sure what he was thinking, but on a whim he'd signed up so here he was.]

Trying to at least... seems kinda vicious though, hitting a ball like that at people?

[He sounds more concerned than nervous.]

They seem to have a mind of their own - bludgers - that is!

Keeper Tryouts

[Keepers will be working alongside Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw goal keepers and the majority of try out time will consist of learning to block and catch quaffle at all costs. Towards the end of the two hours, the chasers will arrive to give both positions live practice and attempts at halting or scoring around the goal post.]

[ This one's currently in the air, doing a remarkable job of looking like he's dozing off until seconds before the quaffle is within range of him, at which point he snaps to attention and either bats it away or catches it. He continues to do this during live practice as well. If you want to catch him on the ground, he'll gladly be highly evasive when questioned about his rather sleepy-looking strategy. ]

[ Minato still isn't entirely used to flying, yet. He's got the basics down, but he's still working on developing a good method for keeping track of the added areas of above and below, which previously had not really been of much concern to him in sports and other things. However, now, they're of vital importance.

Still, whatever difficulties he might be having with getting used to flying, he makes up for with the almost total disregard he shows for his own safety in going for the quaffle. If blocking or catching the ball requires that he nearly throws himself off the broom, then so be it. He's got a pretty high pain tolerance, and in any event, that's what healing magic is for anyway. It's probably a good thing he has a pretty high luck stat. ]

((ooc: open to anyone who wants to tag? I'm assuming he also tries out for beater but tries out for keeper first, because it gives him a better sense of what's going on in the game.))

Day 3 Tryouts

[Day 3 tryouts will consist of free games between students. For two hours the 21 students trying out will find themselves playing against one another in two different teams. Players will be substituted out as Madam Hooch desires until the end of the day is called or the snitch is caught (keep in mind, it'll be a lot more difficult than in practice mode). Players are welcome to play in multiple positions throughout the course of the game.]

Ah!

[He's interested in this- a few of the other students who knew enough to compare said that brooms were similar to horses in some strange way. He's chosen not to argue against it but...]

I have a question; I've heard that only second year and above can try out... Does this make me ineligible?

That's right. Sorry kid. Usually, we only take first years after they've gotten permission from their head of house. Those circumstances are few and far between though. You'll have to wait till next year.

[Madam Hooch offers an apologetic smile. He gets points for being enthusiastic, but sadly, she can't go breaking the rules and endangering student's lives.]

[There's a flash of disappointment, but a quick nod.] Nn. Well- I suppose I should learn to fly properly first in any case... [They have classes for that, oh yeaaaaaaa...]

I do have next year I suppose... [And. Since it's January. He only needs to wait HALF a year. Yessssss...]

Thank's for telling me.
