One hero
One of the people I admire the most on LJ is a person I've never met and only had small handfuls of conversation with: nicked_metal. I admire him because his journal is an open and honest and constantly thought-provoking examination of how he deals with a lot of his own issues, and because to do that sort of thing in an arena where anyone can stumble upon it and watch as you dissect your one life, strengths and weaknesses both, requires a huge amount of courage.
And I'd... really kinda like that sort of courage in this blog.
Because I have issues. My friends have issues. I'm gonna wager that most of my family has issues. I'm gonna wager that most people have issues, because we're all human and there's a lot in our society that's broken. And I think that with some examination, some understanding, some dialogue, we can start coming to grips with those, and meeting them head-on is a lot better than averting our eyes and shuffling by them and pretending that everything is okay.
