I have been making leaps and bounds on Beneath a Beating Sun. Which is good, because I want that damn thing complete. A lot of the arcs I was struggling with have been falling together much more neatly, thought there's always the overlap-disconnect-chop-and-suture inherent to my writing style; Chapter 15 (of 17 or 18*) is agonizingly close to being finished, but Jack had to go and have breakfast with someone. What's that about?

*I chopped Chapter 15 in half because it was getting too long, but now the climactic chapter is looking annoyngly short, so there may be additional reorganizing of chapters to come. Oddly enough, while all of the chapters have draft names, I don't actually refer to them that way. Or by number, often as not. I color-code all of them in the .rtf document I'm working in, so that I can more easily scroll to the right one, so instead of thinking "Angels," "Samsara," "Redux," "Escape," I'm thinking "First blue chapter," "Green chapter," "Red chapter with the secondary climax," "Green chapter after the red chapter," etc. (Yes, the colours are significant. Red tends to be the heavy action, blue the heavy character, green the heavy plot or transitional. But then I have this purple chapter up ahead--the one I cut out of 15, which is the second blue chapter--and I think I just chose that because I didn't want to bother with a blue chapter after a blue chapter or something. This footnote has gone on way too long.)
