Spring Festival - Xi'an: Getting There

The bed on the train was long enough for me to stretch out and the blanket was three times wider than the bed. If you slept with your back to the wall then you don’t notice the narrowness as you do facing the other way. I somehow slid down in the night and woke up a few times when people walking by hit my foot. I also kept losing my blanket over the side.

Around 07:00 the lights were turned on and I got up before 08:00. The toilets on the train are squat toilets, but they were smart and installed a bar to help steady yourself as the train is moving. According to Charly sometimes you will be wading through questionable liquid in the restrooms. So always wear shoes and roll up your pants. This one wasn’t as bad, but I did slip getting into the very small stall. So avoid as much as possible.

A pair of young children Mike (he had learned some English in school) and his little sister hung out with me for a bit. I taught them Go Fish but I couldn’t get them to keep everyone’s pair piles separate but it was still fun. For breakfast I had Bimbo Chocolate Croissant, if you think of it as a Chocolate Croissant (or a Schoggii Gipfel as I do) you will be disappointed. Charly woke up and we played an odd 10 card Gin Rummy in which she kept being vague on the rules to my disadvantage in the beginning.
