As some of you may or may not know, I had my baby Thursday night.
So Steven and I went in at about midnight to be induced. I was set up on a bunch of machines and then we feel asleep for about 4 hours (the nurses coming in every 5 seconds of course) The baby was really high up still and my cervix was very thick and closed so they gave me drugs to jump start labor. I had a few pains at first but nothing too serious. Nothing was happening though so they broke my water. About 10 seconds after they did that, I started having the contractions. And they were BAD. They were coming about ever minute and I was seriously tepmted to jump out the window they hurt so bad. Now I understand why they 4th floor of the hospital sounds like a torture chamber. But I had an epidural and after that, it was all gravy. (thank god for drugs) I was so druged and numb, I couldn't even feel the baby coming out. I had to be told when to push because I couldn't feel the presure. I did develop a bad fever though, so I was violently shaking while I was pushing. Not the best half hour of my life. 30 minutes of pusing later and Orion Adam Barreda was brought into the world.
He roomed in with us in the hospital for a day and a half. He's the most precious thing in the world. Mother hood is amazing. I've never loved another living thing as much as I love this child.
But unfortunitly we couldn't take him home. Since I had a fever he developed an infection of some kind (they don't know what kind yet) He's doing great otherwise but they want to give him a round of antibiotics before they send him home to make sure he stays that way. I am glad he's getting the treatment he needs, but I am sad he's not home with us. They're keeping him until Saturday. Until then we're just going back and fourth to the hospital to spend time with him and feed him (I am nursing) I hope this week goes by fast. I want to be with my baby.
Isn't he GEORGIOUS!?
