What is the most important value you can pass onto your child?

Loyalty. There is nothing more vital to a child's life than loyalty. Loyalty to one's country, loyalty to one's kin. It's the one thing that keeps us from tearing ourselves apart.

That, and the Romans. No one is ever so united as when there is an enemy at the gates. Petty rivalries are forgotten as all band together to repel the invader.

And then they go back to eating their own. Disgusting. Loyalty keeps a child in your arms instead of dead in the street.

It was harsh times in which I grew to adulthood, but I would not trade them for any of your yesterdays. I remember the Earth when she was still young and she was beautiful. My memories are priceless.

And I would never forget him. My loyalty is absolute, even though you have forgotten me ere this era dawned.
