Man, look at that list of degrees. And yet Dracula still speaks English better than he does.

DRACULA: Ah, my beloved! Let me drink your blood! Drink mine in return and you will enter into eternal life!
SHRINKING MAIDEN: Eternal life?
DRACULA: Well, for certain values of "life". You may have to spend eternity locked in my decaying castle, although I do have some rather cute chicks you can hang out with.
SHRINKING MAIDEN: Nah, doesn't really appeal, I've got a deadline this week.
DRACULA: But you will gain access to my wondrous library and you will magically learn to speak faultless English, albeit with a seductive Eastern European accent!
SHRINKING MAIDEN: Do I get a research grant?
DRACULA: I suppose so.
SHRINKING MAIDEN: You're on.

I would respond to that lovely bit of wittiness, but I am far too transfixed by your icon. Whence comes the quote?

Google it, and then, for additional fun, try running the site through Regender. Are you ready to accept Jessica Christ into your heart?

The castle is probably more comfortable.

Yes, my postgrad place is hundreds of years old with no central heating and really horrible lighting.

I'm reminded of the Frodo as grad student and Gandalf as committee chair email that was going around my academic friends' inboxes...

let me see, it's doctor of medicine, doctor of philosophy, and doctor of literature?

heh, well, dracula's had a bit more time to learn than van helsing, i dare say :)

a nice parallel there, that at one instance sucking of a wound is helpful...

Experience tells me that an abundance of qualifications is no guarantor of good English; and why ought it to be? :)

Plus, Dracula has been alive for centuries - do we know how long he's been learning English?
