"Health officials say 10 to 20 people in the United States contract plague each year, usually through infected fleas or rodents. It can be treated with antibiotics, but about one in seven U.S. cases is fatal."

If I got sick, went to the hospital, and was told that I had the bubonic plague (er, before finding out that a few plague-ridden mice escaped in New Jersey), I probably would have laughed and gone to another hospital. Thats really nuts, but DAMN would that make for great cocktail party conversation.

"Just got out of the hospital."
"Yeah, what went wrong?"
"Oh, just got the bubonic plague. But lucky for me, I was of the 6 out of 7 plague who gets treated and survives."
