Oh my giddy aunt, MA, what a fucking lovely thing this is!!! God. blargh, I've been sitting here for about 20 minutes trying to compose myself enough to leave a comment, and I think I'm still only half present haha. Sheesh!

*long exhaled breath*

[Spoiler (click to open)]I left a little baby of a comment on Ao3 saying that this did not go any of the directions I thought it might, and I absolutely love that. It was surprising, and your characters were wonderful, and rounded, and a bit heartbreaking, and a LOT endearing.

I'm so in love with your Draco, and your descriptions of Harry through his POV is just really wonderful. All the little things Draco notices about him make him so utterly vibrant, like him reading the paper to check for news of Malfoy, or getting hooked on his gossip pages. Harry's beat up shoes are, for some reason, making me ache, as is his oversized jumper. And messy hair. And casual pub pose. OH GOD and waiting to see the ghost of the scruffy dog, man, my chest exploded. Such a lovely little addition, and also a fucking heartbreaking one, and the idea of Sirius looking out for Draco has done things to me which are, quite frankly, very embarrassing and pathetic. Harry was just so perfectly Harry, emotionally sure and unsure at the same time, not a hero but doing heroic things, ugh. Wonderful.

And Draco - gosh, what a joy he was to read. I mentioned above that I loved him, but I really, really loved him. From the events that have transpired, the scenes in the manor, I was expecting Draco to be a mess - and I was expecting him to be the one unable to have anything more than a one night, or not thinking they can have more. But he surprised me, and as I say, that was wonderful. For all he's been through, he comes across as having this resilience and strength of character, underneath everything, and that's perhaps what drew Harry to him so much, and why he trusts him so much. Or maybe that's becasue he's fucking hot and snarky and marvelous. Or both, all of it.

GOD, and speaking of sex (good segue, huh? lol) Draco getting turned on by Harry's faith in him, or trust, that was just fucking divine! and the praise, my lord, just when your Harry couldn't get any more wonderful, he does. Draco calling him darling turned me into goo, and the post sex fingeringgggggggggg skdsjsjds!

Man, I'm doing a really poor job of being articulate here haha, so I will politely escort myself out.

This is a stunning fic, MA, I'm so happy I spent this evening with it.

Oh, yes. I think I commented too soon because I didn't remember to say half the stuff I should have. But the ghost of Sirius watching over Draco made me clutch my chest! Gawd, so touching and perfect and I loved it with all my heart.

I was so delighted to get this lovely comment - thank you so much!

I'm really happy that the twists worked for you. I wanted to do something a bit different with their characters in this one in terms of their ability to commit and I'm just so pleased to hear those characterisations worked for you and made sense on reading.

I flailed around all over the place when I saw your comment - it really is lovely to read back again now in order to reply. Thank you!! <3
