I'm not a big fan of D/s stories. It is one of those things that I have tried reading many times - in fanfic and original romance novels - and nearly everytime I get squicked somewhere. Usually it has nothing to do with a smut scene, but all to do with the interaction between the Dom and Sub. It is one of those things where I can objectively see how a healthy D/s relationship benefits both and how it despite its ineherent in-equality it is actually quite a well-balanced relationship. But on a personal level I just can't relate to either wanting to be a dom or a sub.

But ever so often I feel the urge to try a D/s fic, because there are a lot out there and I feel like I'm missing out on something, since so many people seem to like it. When I read your summary I couldn't not read it. I think because you had the sub topping, it immediately gets rid of the more cliché and typical D/s sex scenes which I sometimes have a problem with.
And this fic is definitely being bookmarked. I am never going to be a huge fan of these kind of stories, but fics like yours show the beauty of this relationship that even people like me go "Wow, that was beautiful and hot and while I never forgot it was a D/s story, I also didn't have a "nope-I-just-don't-get-this"-feeling".

Both Harry and Draco were so very much still them, Draco with his inability to truly communicate and Harry's caring nature. And I really loved the fact that you showed how both were still trying to figure out their dynamics. And how they were both strong characters, who were happy in their chosen place even if they both sometimes felt insecure. They supplemented each other.

I think you can congratulate yourself on a job well done. This fic had tons of the little details about D/s dynamic that hard-core D/s fans should be satisfied, but at the same time the way you have written it is also very welcoming to non-D/s fans or D/s beginners.

Plus it was sweet and hot, what more could a Drarry fangirl ask for :)!!!
