So tonight, my mom gave me an early birthday present and took me to my first REAL Opera. By real, I mean, in an actual theater. I went to one in Patras, Greece but it was really ghetto and I was only 17 or so and with a bunch of friends so I was not fully able to appreciate it.
Anyways, so we went to go see Gioachino Rossini's L'italiana in Algeri at the Kennedy Center downtown. I could give tons more details about the actual show, but it's 4:30 am and I don't feel like typing that all out, so here's a link if you would like to know more about
L'italiana in Algeri. Basically, I loved it. The opera itself was a comedy, and I can honestly say it kept my attention the whole time. The singing was beautiful, the costumes were great, the only thing to complain about was the guy sitting next to me who kept staring at me in the dark. It was weird, I would be reading the subtitles or watching the stage, and he would just turn and stare at me for a minute or two. I made my mom switch seats with me.
I'm also super boosted because ::drumroll please:: THE YANKEES ARE PLAYING THE NATIONALS ON MY BIRTHDAY!!! That means my boys are coming to DC, and I can spend my birthday stalking cheering for them! I have this idea that I'll go, and get seats right behing the Yankees dugout, and A-Rod will see me when he's walking away from scoring a home run, and he'll remember meeting me in February. Then he'll find out it's my birthday and give me a personal tour of the Yankees locker room, where everyone will be taking showers. A girl can dream.
This is probably one of the most random posts I've ever done.
