winter begins

Winter showed up last night, out of absolutely nowhere. I got home at around 2 in the morning on saturday night, with Jay and Meghan. They helped me put together my new Ikea bed, and we went to 4th street. It was a little below 40.

Sunday night, I'm at work. There's something falling from the sky, and a customer asks me if it's snowing. No, I say, it's not nearly cold enough.

In the two hours I'd been at work, it had dropped 20 degrees, and we're getting hit by a true ice / snow storm. Apparently, they started predicting it while I was in DC at nematoadjr's homecoming thing, and I didn't hear about it until it hit the ground. I ended up at Paul and Zak's place, watching the snow. We went out in it, and I took some pictures, but I didn't have gloves or a hat with me, so we were barely out for a half hour before we decided to retreat to a roof and heat. The night was spent relaxing and talking, with Johnny, Paul Zak and I in attendance. Good times. We went to 4th street, late, came back, watched some arrested development, and I went home.

It's nice to see winter again. It's long been my favourite season, although the last year of riding a motorcycle through it put a slight negative spin on it- althought it's nice to be able to say that I vespa'd my way through a winter with a 20 minute commute. The photographic possibilities are incredible during this season, as are the philisophical just by looking out of my window.

OOOH yeah... I work at Shockoe Espresso & Roastary now. It's been a while since I posted. Indie coffeehouse that roasts their own beans. It's nice, and pays dick, which is to be expected for how laid back the job is. Two months, we'll see if I can survive here.

I'm heading to D.C. on either wednesday or thursday, depending on wether or not i find someone to take care of the cats.
