This is lovely, Stark and Ukitake bonding over losing parts of their souls, although I do hope Shunsui wakes up, is very touching. Stark's characterization is also rather excellent. Shinji as Stark's captain equals win, it's so very amusing. I can't wait for more.

Thanks! That's kind of where my heart was the whole time I was writing it. I had been gripped by this TONE -- which I think is the best way to describe it -- which made for a very interesting idea. *grins*

It's a very good way to describe it. I have had thpose moments and this fic fit's in that tone perfectly. Melancholic, yet hopeful.
