^_^ Actually, I'm kind freaked at the SAT book. It's a very funny book, and I actually covered the whole test prep section is 3 nights + 1 afternoon... Only worry will be the essay section, since it's just a tad different from GP, and I don't have any historical or literary references at all... Book I'm using, by the way, is The Princeton Review, extremely funny, every 10 pages or so goes "Bah, the SAT is a stupid test, here, we'll tell you how to play the system" and basically points out that um, I can eliminate answers without actually reading the question. In other words, everything we're NOT supposed to do for the A levels. XD Easy peasy. Drills get an average of 85%++, so it's pretty good... Book has teh funniest asides EVER, like:
Quote of the week!!!
Only ancient roman children could be age x.
XD! LMAO.

I HATE bugs in the toilet. >_< It's a small enclosed space, and if you don't find one before you lock yourself in, you can't come out because of decency concerns... Hate toilet bugs. Yech. Spent half an hour hunting down a beetle in my loo. And I squished it and flushed it down the loo. HAH. *victory dance*

Ganked off
amatsuki Book meme!
Hardback or paperback?
X_X Paperback, because it's cheaper, stores easily, and is light enough to bring to school everyday. (yes, drac is one of those people who never leave the house without a book.)
Highlight or underline?
O_O Untouched! How could you deface a book??? ... Ehs, but for lit I found highlighting better. Pretty colours! ^_^
Lewis or Tolkien?
... Honestly, that's a good question. Tolkien is wordy and a pain to get through, but is infinitely more mature and epic than Lewis. So, er, draw? ^_^;
E.B.White or A.A. Milne?
E.B. WHITE!!! ^_^ Charlotte's Web was my P3 introductory Lit book, and was like, a childhood fave. I still have my copy from like, 1998...
TS Eliot or e.e. cummings?
... Who? X_X
Stephen King or Dean Koontz?
King. >_> Not that I've read much of either...
Barnes & Nobles or Borders?
*has never been to a Barnes and Nobles* KINOKUNIYA!
Waldenbooks or B Dalton?
... ???
Fantasy or science fiction?
Fantasy all the way! ^_^ Well done SciFi I can take, but if you've ever read the Asimov magazine, you will understand my burgeoning dislike for SciFi writer who are obsessed with the demise of earth, overfluous tech descriptions, and men having sex with aliens. Yech. >_< And SciFi is depressing. Fantasy, while grim, still showcases human values, and anyway swords and magic are infinity x preferable to lasers. =D I hate Borders for lumping them together. I mean... HELLO???
Horror or suspense?
... This meme obviously does not take into account Drac's complete absence of gore-tolerance. Suspense, obviously. Jeffery Deaver. =D
Bookmark or dogear?
O_O Bookmark! How could you deface a book? *wails*
Hemingway or Faulkner?
... Don't know. Don't care.
Fitzgerald or Steinbeck?
........ See above.
Homer or Plato?
Dante. =P
Chaucer or Edmund Spenser?
*is well actuainted with the screams from the Arts block about people who wish to commit suicide over Chaucer* I don't really care, either way.
Pen or pencil?
Pencil for books. Erasing is good. X_X
Looseleaf or notepad?
What does this have to do with books? ... For the sake of neatness, notepads...
Alphabetize by author or title?
Author! Prachett, Gaiman, Martin, Eddings, Jordan... Can you imagine splitting a trilogy (or 12-olgy, no thanks to you, Mr Robert Jordan) because of title? Nope.
Dustjackets on or off?
... *is too cheapo to buy dustjackets* Er, good bookcase with thirsty hippos? ^^;;;
Novella or epic?
Epic, most of the time. Because novellas go poof into about 2 hours.
John Grisham or Scott Turow?
... Who's Turow? X_X But Grisham is good yeah. Not a fave, because of a bit too much meandering for my liking, and far too southern, but good all the same.
JK Rowling or Lemony Snickett?
ROWLING! ... actually that's kinda debatable. HP4, 5, 6 never really rocked my socks, and Snickett's good point is his constant happy lunacy...
Fiction or non-fiction?
Fiction. Non-fiction bores me. I think it's terribly hard to write a non-fiction book because you can't put in enough pictures. Though Freakonomics blew me away yeah.
Historical biography or historical romance?
Biography. My tolerance limit for romance stands at about 50 pages. And it's much more interesting to look at a person rather than a single relationship.
A few pages per sitting or at least a chapter?
A WHOLE BOOK. ^_^V
Short story or creative non-fiction essay?
SHORT STORIES. O_O Or, face it, LONG STORIES. (But I kinda lose steam after 3000 words...)
"It was a dark & stormy night" or "Once upon a time"?
Once upon a time, there was a dark and stormy night. =P
Buy or borrow?
Buy, out of necessity. Look, I'm not going to wait 6 months for the stupid lousy Nat Lib to catch up with the world... Though borrowing off friends is loved, as always. ^_^
Book reviews or word of mouth?
Hmm, depends really, on how close the person's tastes are to yours. Like I enjoyed Bartimaeus terribly and I got it off a review, but Sophie's World and Johnathan Strange to me are complete washouts. Word of mouth is good too yeah, since some of the critics tend to miss more mundane titles that are actually very good.
George RR Martin in Time! Somebody give me my X'mas money NOW, I am positively ITCHING to go buy A Feast for Crows. X_X
