Eventing

This weekend was Garden of Earthly Delights, a particularly fun event for those that are like me and very much like to watch and interact with people. Getting there however was...Interesting to say the least. Unfortunately, every idiot with a driving license and a set of keys was on the road and we paid the price for one persons stupid. My poor ( Read more... )

indeed court bingo. Everyone would have to be listening quite closely to the Herald otherwise you'd miss the words. Half of them could come out of a normal scroll text but the other half were just silly.
Twas my favorite part of court, since I did not know the gentleman being laurelled.

So some people had cards with words on them? Lots of players, or just a few? Where do the cards they come from? Is it just a circle for fun, or is there a prize to win? How would one collect, since shouting bingo during court would be disruptive?

I think the reason people speak for the candidate is because there will be some people who don't know them and it serves as an introduction. I know that I have appreciated hearing these things when I didn't know the person being laureled (or whatever)

To my knowledge we were allowed by the King to play court bingo up until the Laurelling began. I am not sure how many cards went out but there were an awful lot of little red cards in the populace. THey were handed out the first time court was announced to be starting, and then I believe it got pushed back an hour. I am sorry you didn't get one! The prize was something from the bar since it was hosted by those folk in charge of the bar. Someone did in fact shout bingo at the very end, and that someone was Ary.

I have never heard of this game, but not surprised I didn't get a card, since I was busy before court getting stuff together for the laureling, since I was the one to do the coordination of all of that. I also always sit in the front row, even when not expecting to go up in court, because of my hearing problems, so no surprise that I didn't see anyone with cards or hear the shout.

However, it sounds like a good idea in that it encourages people to sit quietly and pay attention to court rather than talking over it and making it hard for those who actually want to listen. And I am all for anything that is fun.

It waas fun, well is fun. Oh Kareina, you have my apologies for not connecting your face with your journal and to answer the question you put to me at the event that I realize I never did respond to...My name is Saraswati, but most people call me Ruth because it is easier.

If apologies are in order they are due both ways, since I didn't connect you with your journal till you went home and typed up your adventure. (I really should finish my write-up from the event as well--it has been sitting there part-way done for days.)

Now I wonder if I have never heard of court bingo because it hasn't been played at events where I am, or if I have always been oblivious and I have been near people playing it all along...
