The horrors of fashion

I have now discovered why these little "dress tops" are all the rage right now.

I bought two new pairs of jeans; a tad long so I can only where them with boots or high heels, but a nice fit on the legs. One pair was marked as a size 14 and the other as an XL. They are both "low waist" jeans, which to me implies hipster or just over the hip or something like that. Except that for something that is intended to go around the (traditionally) widest part of a woman's body they are pretty damn tight. Once on the one pair (the XL as it happens) aren't coming off again until I get home from wherever I am - no trips to the loo while I'm wearing them, that's for sure! Maybe it's just a sign that I need to lose weight, but the size 14s I wear day in and day out need a belt because they are a little loose on me!

Anyway, back to the point of the dress tops. With these low waist jeans it means that the rather rotund bellies that are so common these days stick out over the top. While I'm not as paranoid about my body as I used to be I'd rather not show off my flabby stomach. So along comes these new tops that nicely hid the flab. So hurrah. No need to lose weight. Just cover it with a top that makes me look slim.

Of course, it will just add to the comments from colleagues that I don't need to lose weight. I think the fact that I can only just get into a pair of XL jeans (admittedly a size 14 is a ridiculous size for an XL - maybe a large but not XL) goes to show that I need to lose some weight. (I've now put back on almost all the weight I had lost).

Still, I did come away with three lovely tops, two pairs of jeans, five cool pairs of knickers (Primark undies are the best) and size pairs of horrendously colourful socks. I also bought CDs (one Seether album - horrendously expensive but it had the Amy Lee version of Broken so I couldn't resist, and two The Who albums - both double disks and both cheaper than Seether although we do have a load of the songs already). Oh, and nail varnish, a wash in wash out hair dye (they do a semi-permanent in the same colour if I want it), and my prescription from the doctors - yay for free prescriptions - at least it was something that didn't cost me anything.

Rat's forcing me to listen to his new Faith No More best of, which he is horrified I don't know any of. I wasn't into rock when they were about! I was into boy bands back then. It's only recently (well, ten or more years) that I've started liking "rock" music - most of which would nowadays be considered very "soft" I suppose.
