My eyes are dim I cannot see...

Okay, so I can see perfectly well thanks. In fact, I am sporting a nice new pair of glasses. They're different but I really do think they suit me. They are so much lighter than my old ones that I barely know I'm wearing them. Well, except that they are smaller so I notice the frames more. I did plan to take a photo but I haven't yet.

Yesterday was an exhausting day. I did mean to post something in the evening but I was far too tired. I just veg'd out in front of the TV. Not that I don't do that a lot lately. ;)

I got up at 6am to get the early bus, as I wasn't convinced the next bus would get me there in time. So I was there a good hour early. I bought myself Empire magazine and a big cup of tea and waited for the train. I should have gotten the earlier train but unfortunately I'd booked specific times. I literally only got to the office at 11am - the time of the meeting - so getting the earlier train would have been better. The meeting itself was relatively painless and only lasted an hour. I didn't make much of an input but it was good that I was there to take the information back to the office. Because the meeting was so short, and because my return train didn't leave until gone 4pm, I had lots of time to waste. I didn't really feel like spending the time wandering around the streets of London - I've done that far too much over the past year. So instead I went and found the IT department. I had a chat with Amanda, the IT helpdesk person. We've never actually met in person before. It was so nice meeting her. It's a shame it will probably be the first and last time. Anyway, I then found a hotdesk and got some work done on the website. It was nice that my day wasn't completely wasted.

On the way back I discovered that the tube station by the office was closed due to some emergency. Fire engines turned up afterwards. I got quite panicky as I had no idea what to do if I couldn't go back on the tube. I headed back to the office and the women at the reception to the building got out a tube map and pointed me in the right direction. I had to walk quite a way down Oxford Street but I managed to get on the tube and get to Paddington with time enough to spare to have lunch and chai tea latte at Starbucks and then sit for ages watching the screens until the train arrived. On the journey back I sat and did some puzzles (I'd bought a puzzle book at Paddington). This, combimined with several hours of using a mouse really didn't help my hand and it was rather saw all last night.

The vegging out actually involved watching an episode of V - they are showing the series on SciFi as part of their "Alien Invasion" season. I love V, apparently have since it first came out on British TV (I know I was under 10 when I first saw it). I don't remember it well enough to quote, because I haven't seen it in so many years, but close enough. I hope I remember to watch it next week.

Today we saw our first film from Blockbuster's online DVD rental system. It's so cool how they send the DVDs out. We watched Old Boy which is an excellent, but seriously weird and disturbing film. I heartily recommend it! Tomorrow we have A Very Long Engagement to watch. And Iris, which I suspect I'll be watching alone as Rat doesn't really want to watch it. Even though he knows it'll probably be very good!
