The great cat approached stealthily behind him, but he paid it no mind, used to the other. The beast laid down silently beside him, the only sound it made a soft puff and the jingle of charms alien to Lurin.
Long purple ears flattened then raised again, yellow pupil-less eyes peering in curiosity up at his face, disturbing him for a moment. He faced away from them but it did not deter the cat who head butted him in the thigh gently, in a manner that was obviously asking for affection.
Lurin relented only begrudgingly. Looking over, he found the sight ridiculous yet endearing, the great purple cat looking at him with only one eye.
Lurin reached over and let his fingers rest on the massive head, fingers burrowing into the soft fur, parting it and coaxing an awkward, broken purring from the feline.
“You suck at that.” He said to the cat, in a tone that attempted to sound derisive yet couldn’t fully hide his amusement.
“Yet it feels too good not to try.” The cat’s answer came in a deep, rumbling voice, laden with the weight of old age.
Lurin’s amused chuckle was lost in the otherwise quiet forest.
