Hey Guys!
Well, Japan is treating me nicely (better than the airplane flight did), and it seems promising to say the least. Yesterday, I traveled around the town with a peerfrom Syracuse, and I eventually met up with the friends I made while in customs. The town were in is amazing! It's not brimming with the greatest stuff in the world, but it's very quaint, pretty, and safe...something I can't exactly say for either New Port Richey nor Syracuse; It is one of the only places I have ever been too where I don't fear of getting mugged. However, the car traffic on the other hand is a totally different story (nonexistant sidewalks + narrow roads= very scared foriegner), and it's something that I constantly have to keep an eye on...much preferable in my opinion than eyeing every person on the street and wondering if they have a gun and if they do, will they use it to get your 10 dollars.
I feel quite satisfied with the time I had yesterday, I explored the campus area, went to Makino (another section of town), and did some various shopping while draining myself of money (I swear, their vending machines will bankrupt me). I took a lot of pictures, many of them worthy of being put on Engrish.com, and you will all get to see them shortly once I get my computer up and running.!
The dorm is very nice....one of the best I ever seen. I find it difficult to describe with just words, but I'll be far more detailed when I post the pictures (one word I give you before parting: KICK ASS TOILETS!). Anyways, I should get going...I need to leave for the campus tour soon as well as the other orientation activities.
Much Love,
Elizabeth
