Hello, to all knitters :)
So, I’ve started knitting (again? does the knitting we did in school years ago count here, hmm?) about a half year ago or so. I’m wondering just about what kind of basic needles I should have around? I mean I have bought some stuff for a couple of projects, but it’s kind of hard to know what is actually good to have around. (And ok, I’ve basically kept to chunkier yarns, so I have knitting needles that are 8mm, 10mm and 12mm - circular and single-pointed ones. Mostly metal, but I have one set of wooden ones, too. + a bamboo crochet hook)
I do know that the choice of yarn figures into this heavily, but I guess as a beginner it’s so difficult to know what to actually buy yarn/needlewise, especially because everything feels so expensieve.
So do you have any tips about what kind of yarns are good for beginners’ projects? Or tips about where to find knitting patterns that cater to visual people. (Pictures and having different colours really help me when I try to figure out patterns.)
And yeah, I’ve mostly knitted different kind of *scarves so far, but I am thinking about knitting socks or mittens next.
*Here's a pic of something I knit for my mom, so far I've knit 2 versions of this scarf. (Pattern
link, sorry Finnish site, but it has pictures)
Lastly, I would be happy to hear what you are knitting right now… or what kind of projects you knit when you first began knitting. Or just links to your favourite knitting blogs/sites etc?
