Family Remains from season 4 is pretty much the only episode of Supernatural that ever really freaked me out. I think when it comes to horror, the worst films/shows are always those that explore the depths humanity can plumb without the aid of anything supernatural pushing them there. The things people are capable of doing to each other and what happens to those who are systematically mistreated and pushed beyond normal boundaries, always frightens me more than things that go bump in the night.
As for the funniest episode, Bad Day at Black Rock from season 3 and Free To Be Me and You. Bad Day At Black Rock because of how slapstick and ridiculous all the bad luck moments were (though Sam losing his shoe in the drain made me laugh the most) and Free To Be Me and You because of the 'fish out of water' element to Cas in the police station. It's always the little things that make me laugh the most though, so Cas staring quizzically at the FBI badge, after Dean has turned in the right way up is the funniest moment to me.
