The Awakening

I’ve missed training tonight. But I kind of did it on purpose, keeping up the conversation with a colleague of mine about whom I’ve heard really bad things in Egypt - basically that she tried to accuse me of a problem she had caused and that a lady whom I hardly know - except from work - and who is also the director of the museum that participated on the project in question - was defending me.

Now, the thing is, I had no idea what to believe.

The people I’ve heard this from tend to say all kind of things about others (I guess myself included) just to be interesting and to have something to say. On the other hand, this girl has really caused a major problem and I know she can - at times at least - do anything to save herself.

Tonight, she wanted to talk to me and so I got the other view. Now whatever is true, I am glad I did not act on the first impulse when I heard about her actions. Because it would have been unfair. As my theologian friend told me, whatever happens, my conscience is clear. Somehow, I would like to know who - if anyone - speaks the truth. But to be honest, I believe the truth lies in the middle.

I hate to be caught in the middle of two groups of people each trying to win me over to their own side.

people, work
