Getting ready for Portugal

Oct 19, 2013 12:39

We leave for Portugal on Thursday. Excited and a bit apprehensive. Getting as much packed and ready today as possible, with the last-minute stuff on Wednesday night / Thursday morning. Got my hair done this past Thursday, massage this morning (trigger point therapy hurts, but it helps a lot afterwards if you can stand the pain of going through it), and getting a manicure/pedicure this afternoon. Hotel reservations and festival confirmation printed out, as well as the flight itinerary, although I'll have to print out the actual boarding passes Wednesday. I have the seats picked out on all the flights except for the one from Paris to Lisbon, for some reason it keeps telling me the seat plan is unavailable and to try back later. That is the only thing that makes me uneasy; I hope they didn't overbook that plane.

Work has still been good for the most part. We all got bonuses last month, which really helped towards the vacation and paying off Ray's medical bills from his car wreck. Our insurance finally covered most of it, and we still had to pay around $2000 for the 10% of the hospital costs and the ambulance. Our insurance won't pay for any of the ambulance costs at all, but only negotiated a lesser cost for us. It was still over $500. If this happens again, I think I will just make Ray wait for me and I'll pick him up and take him to the doctor. Hospitals are so overpriced in this country.
