In what I feel was a rather slick exchange, I bartered in-house salon services for a number of needy orphans in exchange for a weekend escape in Cannes, complete with complimentary child-minding. What I truly got out of the plan were two extra party guests for Oscar's birthday extravaganza tomorrow, since he obviously hasn't got an endless supply

A fair few of them do, and mostly because they're looking at me with pound signs in their eyes.

But the older ones certainly do. Especially the ones who haven't been living in poverty at Widdleton for as long as they can remember. It's even worse for them, if they remember what life is meant to be like.

None of them are too old for me to take over my knee, if it comes down to it.

Well, I wouldn't go that far, but I don't see why you're worried about what a bunch of people whose ages haven't even reached double digits yet are going to plot in regards to your money.

If I were in their place, I would be scheming, too. The odds dictate that a quarter of them should sort into Slytherin, after all.
