Recently I had been asked, while out diligently searching the wilds for the task that had been set before me, what it was that I felt made a Malfoy. Not the obvious traits of a spotless bloodline, wealth, or status. But what was at the heart and the soul of a Malfoy, the core strength of our collective being. That spark of brilliance that has allowed our family to survive the generations.
Later, I would reflect upon more specific qualities that occurred to me as I sat ignoring background arguments and blocked window views. Qualities such as unshakable nerves and a will like steel, allowing us to gracefully navigate any obstacle or inconvenience. A keen mind to keep track of ourselves, and not allow our endeavors to consume and threaten us. The ability to neatly eliminate any problem that might arise through a mistake we might make.
Yes, these are all things I have been taught to value highly, though undoubtedly the struggle to maintain such high standards is a difficult and trying task for some.
Intelligent. Iron Willed. Devilishly Aware. These are all things Malfoy.
And yet, upon hearing this question put to me I thought nothing of these things. I could only see our crest's image emblazoned on my eyelids as if burned there by God, the credo which has bonded and succored our lifeblood. Words that make up the essence of our being, even if the words must sometimes be turned on ourselves for the betterment of Our Name. And so naturally, I responded:
"Sic Gorgiamus Allos Subjectatos Nunc."
Not just pretty words.
Oh, and P.S. - Professor Snape, I have that Wormwort you asked me to collect for you.
P.P.S. - It is so on.
