I just want to point out that I already know I am a dork, and yet, that doesn't stop me from Journaling about my chickens. Having said that...
One of my hens layed and ENORMOUS egg today. She didn't even make it to the nesting box, it was below the roost. So, of course, I had to
.
photograph it. Wouldn't you?
This was a major accomplishment for her.
The egg on the right is a large egg, the one on the left is a jumbo, the one in the middle is equivalent to a 15 lb. baby. (LOL) Admit it, you are impressed, in a wierd, "Wow, your chicken had a big egg", kind of way.
Now, the big question that I know you are asking: (No, the question is not "Why is she even wasting time on this?")
Will this egg be a doubled-yolked egg? Perhaps even a triple yolked-egg...or is this just an egg of Baby Huey proportions. I will keep you posted. I have six pullets that are due to start laying any day now and I want to compare the giant egg with a pullet egg. In case you don't know, a pullet is a young hen that either hasn't started laying yet or has recently started laying, although once they start laying, I suppose they are considered hens. (Remember...I am a dork!)
