Many years later, when Harry and Draco would look back on their lives and their life together, recanting the story to their children, and then their grandchildren and even their great grandchildren, they would always begin the same way.
“It started with a handshake.”
And then they would smile at each other, age roughened faces softened by emotion, and grip each other’s hands gently, or share a short kiss, and Harry would continue on.
“One unintentionally hurtful rejection, and seven years of mutual distrust and dislike, all resolved by one handshake, the giving and taking of a chance and acceptance.”
