Hogsmeade was busy on Saturdays. People hurried to their destinations, knocking into their counterparts complaining as their fellow wizards returned the favor. It was a task just to keep oneself together in this madhouse.

For Draco Malfoy, it was a perfect day for business. He sized up his target- a middle-aged man, with a pouch of galleons tied to his waist. Draco smirked and approached his victim, brushing against him with the casual grace of a professional.

“Pardon me, sir.”

The man ignored him, continuing on his way. Draco grinned, the galleons clinking oh so pleasantly in his pocket.

The sensation of being watched was instinctive to him- a good thing in Draco’s profession. He had just relieved an elderly witch of a pearl necklace when a warning tingle travelled down his spine, compelling him to turn around.

Draco found himself staring across the street, into a pair of angry, green eyes.

Indolently, he let his gaze travel across Potter, taking in the tapered fit of his official Auror robes and his combative stance.

Law enforcement suited him, Draco had to admit.

But compliments could wait. He favored Potter with a cheeky bow, then turned tail and fled.

****

His chest burned and his heart hammered as he ran. Every now and then, he looked back. Potter was in relentless pursuit. He looked strong and determined and fucking furious.

Draco laughed out at the sheer thrill.

He was weaving through narrow lanes now, ducking and dodging, trying to shake Potter off. He even managed to upset a vegetable cart in the street to slow his hunter down. Potter dismissed his efforts with a flick of his wand, chasing him like a relentless lion.

He came to a dead end. Potter was behind him in seconds.

Draco was cornered.

“Enough” Potter growled. “Hand it over. Now.”

Draco smirked and threw the necklace at him without a second thought. “I’m at your mercy, Potter.”

Potter’s jaw clenched. “Why?”

“Why?”

“Why do you do this?”

He sounds so angry and frustrated that Draco wants to laugh. Potter continues, sounding more agitated by the second.

“You have more money than you’ll ever need. You have a good home, a good life. And I know you don’t keep the things you steal. You return everything, down to the last galleon. So tell me, Malfoy- because I can’t fucking figure it out. Why?”

****

Harry growled in frustration as the blond threw his head back and laughed. He exposed the slender arch of his neck and Harry clenched his fists.

Malfoy smirked and approached him. “I don’t know, Potter. Maybe I’m bored,” he drawled, brushing against Harry and hooking his slim arms around his neck. “Maybe I just like the thrill.” He leaned in closer. Harry cursed mentally as Malfoy’s mouth traced against his own. He was powerless to move away. And the bastard knew it.

“Or maybe I just really like you chasing after me,” Malfoy whispered before crushing their lips together.

****

Harry growled into the kiss and pulled Malfoy closer, forcing his slender body to mold against his taller form. He leaned forward aggressively, asserting his control. Malfoy smirked against his mouth as he obliged.

“One day” Harry muttered “I’m just going to snap and arrest you.”

Malfoy chuckled. “I doubt it. There’s a reason you let me go every time. It’s so that you end up right here- chasing me again. Until next time, Potter.”

With that, he sauntered away.

Harry leaned wearily against a wall.

He brushed his hand over his robes absently and swore.

His wallet was missing.
