“And so they walked further into the woods…”
Draco shivered, listening to Blaise’s low voice with rapt attention. Next to him, Pansy squeaked and Theo smirked as he put a courteous arm around her shoulders. Weasley cleared his throat uncomfortably and shifted closer to Granger who smiled and patted his hand.
“…further and further towards the gravesite.”
Draco resumed strangling his cushion, trying to ignore the way eerie shadows played across Blaise’s face, seemingly in tune with his Halloween story.
“…and when they dug the shallow grave up, they found themselves face to face…”
Draco’s eyes widened, and Blaise smirked at him as he continued.
“…with the most horrific thing they could have ever imagined.”
Draco whimpered, vaguely aware that Pansy had buried her face in Theo’s shoulder and that Weasley was now holding on to Granger for dear life. He wished he had something more substantial than a cushion to…
“It was…”
His heart was pounding away in his throat.
“It was…”
He didn’t think he could take more of this...
“BOO!”
Draco screamed in sheer terror and scrambled back as Blaise lunged at him without warning. Pansy shrieked, Weasley yelped and Blaise collapsed in a fit of hysterical laughter. The bastard.
Draco found himself wrapped up in strong arms as capable hands massaged his back comfortingly. He was still trembling and he buried his face in his protector’s shoulder.
“Zabini, was that necessary?” Potter’s voice above him sounded annoyed and concerned. Draco peeked up at the Gryffindor who stroked his hair gently, providing silent reassurance as he scowled at a still sputtering Blaise.
“It was just a joke,” Blaise chuckled, dodging a slap on the head from Pansy. He finally subsided as Potter continued to glower at him. “Alright alright…. I’m sorry, Draco. I can’t help it if you scare like a Hufflepuff firstie!”
“You’re an arsehole! And I do not!” Draco snapped, even as he wrapped his arms tighter around Potter neck. Potter returned the gesture with a gentle squeeze, looking down at him with warm, green eyes. “It’s alright, Draco” he smiled reassuringly. “I won’t let anything get you, I promise.”
Draco bit his lip uncertainly. “Can…can I sleep with you tonight?” he asked finally. “Please?”
Harry smiled brilliantly at him. “Of course. If it makes you feel better.”
Draco nodded and relaxed, laying his head on Harry’s shoulder and sighing in contentment as a strong hand sifted through his hair again.

Harry grinned, returning Zabini’s discreet wink and making a mental note to send him those Weird Sisters concert tickets first thing in the morning. After all, he mused as he gazed down at the pretty blond in his arms, what was Halloween without a little trick or treat?
