Sweet Escape

Ok, so here are my updates, to-do lists, and basic 411s for all of yous who might be curious. Its a lot of stuff so I'll slice it into bits for those who want only to read certain parts.

Phone situation: I went to Verizon and they were all like, "Phone don't work? No problem. You're Daddy put an extended warranty on it." I was all like, "SWEEEEET!" so no monies must go to fixing phone and all is well on that front. I can receive calls and I can still get my screen to light up, I just need to use the speaker phone or my hands-free to hear anyone. My new phone should be here this afternoon and all I have to do is change out the batteries to make it work. Yayness.

Work: Today is my last official day at Wal*Mart. I work 1-4 at Penzeys today and then I'm going to high-tail it to Wal*Mart to get my oil changed for my Atlanta trip and take advantage of my final shopping trip with my discount card. Woot 10% off until its gone.

Penzeys has been working out well. I really like Kathy, my super, because she doesn't act like my super. Because really, at Penzeys, we are all equal. I am learning to do everything that she does and I have the same keys, authority, knowledge and access to stuff that she does. The only thing that is really different is that she's the only full time person while I am simply part time. In laymen's terms, she does more work. Tis all. I likes it.

Interesting things that happened: I acquired some of the Tuscan Sunset seasoning that we sell at Penzeys and tried out a marinade with it after I got in last night.

Recipe:
2tp of Tuscan Sunset
4TB of Balsamic Vinegar
4tp of Olive Oil
4TB of water
1tp of dijon mustard

I let a chicken breast marinade in the fridge for an hour before cooking it. I ended up turning the stove up too high, (what! I never cook? I promise not to do it again!) and burned the hell out of my pan. Still, the chicken itself didn't burn. Oh yeah, the outside was a little crunchy and black, but the seasonings I used kept it from getting that nasty burned taste. The marinade made it throughout most of the chicken so it had some good smokey flavor.

When it happened the kitchen filled up with smoke and I had the thought, "Either I get upset and panic...or I just see if I can salvage my dinner." Yayness to plan B!

Unfortunately, it took an effort of herculean proportions to scrub the black off of the skillet pan I messed up. Poor archsaint. He sat with me as I growled, screamed, groaned, and whined through cleaning that pan. He deserves a cookie for his patience.

Moving along, tomorrow I am gonna go to Atlanta to see everyone's favorite veggie. zucciniveggie and I are going to the Stephenie Meyer signing Friday and there will be much with the hanging out. We are going to run around and enjoy Atlanta with Gertrude and basically enjoy each other for a few days. I'll try and use a computer there to post how everything was.

If I can borrow my grandmother's camera there will be pictures a plenty. If not, I'll have to hunt down my spare disposable camera and wait til' I get home to develop and scan the buggers in. Oi. I want a diggie camera.

Ok. I think that's it. When I get back I am going to start back with my poor, neglected games and get into a the groove of a poor woman who needs her money. Until then, I will be around.
