You know, it's okay not to have driving action in your first paragraph. Its function is introduction. I know it's interesting to have action and all, but sometimes the reader just wants you to start thing off slow. u_u I'm only saying this because I can hardly ever manage to put some driving action into my first paragraphs. It's become something of a ball-and-chain.

I am beginning to really hate first paragraphs.

I'm working on it though. Its a pain that involves multiple re-writes.

What do you think about the intro to this bit though? Do I answer the right questions? Does it 'hook'?

I so badly need a hook.
