well, I guess I'll start off by talking about work.
Last week, they gave me barely any hours. The whole week, I worked about 16 hours, which blows because my next pay check is gonna suck. In other work-related news, McDonald's is falling apart. Everyday something new goes wrong there, usually it's that we run out of something that we really can't be running out of. For example, one day last week we ran out of straws. Not just that there were no straws out in front so I had to go downstairs to get more. We ran completely out of straws. You have no idea how screwed up it is to have to tell people, "sorry, we don't have any straws; but maybe the gas station next door has some." There was also one day last week when the basement was pretty much one big puddle, not the stock room or freezer, but the area in between those two rooms. Then on Sunday, we ran out of napkins. I'm not exactly sure where we got it, but we actually had a paper towel roll at the end of the counter as a substitute for the napkins which we were lacking at the time. Fortunately, we got a box of napkins from somewhere, I think a manager went over to a different mcdonald's to take one of theirs. Also, McDonald's had an employee picnic a couple weeks ago; but I don't think it went over that well because most of the people I actually talk to at work didn't go. What else...oh yea, one of the managers told me she was impressed by how quickly I learned how to use the register and take orders, and she also said that she's going to start having me train new employees, at least for fries. So it's good to know the stuff I've learned how to do there I actually do really well. I know I'm still slow on drive-thru, and probably not quite up to par on running orders, but I'm working on that stuff. And, it seems some coporate people are coming in next week to test us on everything for one day. I don't know exactly how it's going to work, but from what Dina said, they're going to time us on how long it takes us to take and fill orders, and how well we follow what we're supposed to do, so we gotta actually do everything the right way for at least that one day. For that day, they scheduled me for 10am-6pm, according to Dina, most of the managers thought I would do the best of all the people that normally run the front cash register. Unfortunately, I have class wednesday until about 12:30pm so I'm not really able to work when they want me to, and they should know that since my availability is in the computer.
on the school front,
I've barely been making it to class on time in the mornings, mainly because I stay up so damn late then I don't feel like waking up in the morning. And then I have trouble finding parking. This is really terrible and I won't make it through my classes at this rate. I need to start sleeping earlier so I can wake up earlier and actually make it to class on time so I can pass my classes.
In speech class, I got a 5 out of 5 on my introductory speech. The comments she made on the paper said stuff about how well my speech flowed, and how well I used gesture and space; and that she really liked how I actually had a conclusion to my speech, I used the advice to the class as a conclusion. Not bad considering how little time I put into preparing for it, but it was just an intro so there wasn't much to prepare. The night before the speech, I sat down and thought of what I could talk about for each of the questions we were supposed to answer in our speech, then made little note cards for each thing. Not a lot on the note cards, pretty much one or two words per card; seriously, the first notecard only said "name" in big writing, the second said "b-day", just enough to remind me of each of the points I was supposed to cover in my speech. Our next speech is the descriptive/informative speech, I haven't even picked a topic yet. any suggestions?
In calculus...I'm fucking dead. We had a test today, and I'm pretty sure I bombed it.
Philosophy is fairly easy, we'll have our first test next week shouldn't be too tough but I'm going to have to study for it at least a little.
Computers is going to be a challenge, we were supposed to have our first lab due last night, but since class was canceled last night it got postponed a week. Which was very lucky for me since my lab wasn't ready yet, so I get another week to figure out why the fuck it's not working.
Then there's Health class, but I don't really have anything to say about that so...
In other news...
Me and Leo unsuccessfully searched for a 24 hour Starbucks late saturday night. I thought the one at Topanga & Ventura was open 24 hours, but it was apparently closed when we got there at around 1am.
And I got the new Flogging Molly CD last week, it's awesome, you all should listen to it, especialy the song I'm listening to now.
I should get some sleep now, g'night
