Home Sweet Home!
Had a great weekend, but it always feels nice to come home, doesn't it? Looking forward to sleeping in my own bed tonight! We were in a double last night and Saturday, and for two people who are used to sharing a king size, that makes a heck of a difference! Lol. Lots of poked ribs and numb limbs. Lol.
Drove down on Saturday (*resists rant about roadworks and road closures*), got there about 4.30. Went for curry Saturday night (sooooo nice!!) and we were treated because our friends didn't make it to the engagement party. :)
Sunday, despite the pissing rain, we braved Camden. Was dry by the time we got there and I managed to find a very cool bag for my sister for Xmas. I've now gone way over my Xmas shopping budget for her, but I just had to get it! Did a little browsing, had a pint in The World's End - coolest pub ever! Went back to their house and they cooked a roast dinner which was washed down with several beers. :)
Today we went to the London Wetland Centre. Really good twitching spot! We didn't see the Peregrine's that have been hanging around there lately, but we did see a Bittern hiding in the reeds and I finally saw a Jack Snipe! There was one teasing us in Scotland in May and I sat for an hour listening to it and unable to see it. So yeah, can finally tick that one off. Saw loads of Herons, various ducks, swans and geese, a few of which I've not seen before, and they have Cranes!! Which is very cool. OH took almost 250 pics today. Lol. Also, we saw a wild green bird that looked an awful lot like a small Parrot! (Parakeet? IDK.) Think it's probably escaped from somewhere!
I can hardly believe this place is in London! It's absolutely teeming with birds and well worth a visit if you're into that kind of thing and you're in the area. :) I think we'll try and go back in the Spring.
So that was my weekend. :)
