A couple of years ago, my uncle died of Aplastic Anaemia. He was 38. We knew about it for four years before he died, he had lots of treatments, including a bone marrow transplant, but in the end, there was just nothing more they could do. The doctor's said it was probably caused by him handling depleted Uranium out in the gulf (first time around) and that his body was full of the stuff. The MOD denied it, said he wasn't entitled to any kind of compension. He wasn't happy about that, but in the end, decided fighting it just wasn't worth it when he might not have long left.
Been talking to my sister tonight and apprently there's an article in our local paper that really upset my mum. A guy from our area, who was in the same army regiment as my uncle and out in the gulf at the same time, had exactly the same illness, exactly the same symptoms and a very similar progression of the illness.
And it documents several similar cases.
How the fuck can the MOD just dismiss this?
Fuckers.
