If I hear the word "Tamiflu" one more time today I might just scream. And why why why do some people have to make things difficult for everyone?! Don't they realise that just co-operating ang getting on with it will ebnefits everyone, including themselves?? Grrr!

I actually got a good night's sleep last night. So good that I slept through my alarm ( Read more... )

YES. Completely agree about the donation stuff. I fail a lot of the time at giving blood (my bad) but I am on the organ donation list and the bone marrow reg. (although the blood taking to get me on the list was hilarious, because I let a med student do it.)

*high five* YES!! Excellent.

I try to give blood regularly, but I must admit I usually only manage twice a year. But that's better than nothing. I've only ever really had a problem once and that was because it was January and the heating in the hospital broke down! Do you know how slowly your blood flows when it's 2 degrees? Lol. I had a nurse rubbing my fingers and sticking heat pads in my hand and it still took nearly 30 mins to fill the bag! Lol.

*high fives back*

I've got way bad circulation - it always takes half an hour at least and sometimes it gets to the point where they're just not getting enough from me. But they never believe me, because I have drainpipes of veins. Just empty drainpipes.

Awwwww.

I have quite low blood pressure so I've found I have to wiggle my fingers constantly to fill the bag in under 20 mins.

Heh, the first time I went there was a guy on the next bed that kept looking at his watch and muttering under his breath. His thing beeped to say the bag was full and I thought he was gonna jump off the bed!! He shouted "YES! New record!" and punched the air. LOL. Dork. He'd done it in 11 mins! And there was me looking at my not even half full bag and I'd sat down after him! Lol.

*G* Go you! I've had an organ donor endorsement on my driver's license since the first day I got it. I used to donate blood regularly, but I can't any more -- wrong prescription meds, and they don't want it any more. I donated platelets a few times, but that's a very draining experience (and they don't want those any more either, sigh).

You know, I think I'd go so far as to say we should have an "opt out" scheme for organ donation rather than leaving it up to people to make that effort to register.

I was "recruited" to start giving blood by a lady at work who couldn't donate anymore. She'd had a blood transfusion while having her son and was told she couldn't anymore. She pledged to find five new donors in a year to make up for it, and she did! And I've convinced two people to donate since I started. :)

I keep mening to get tested to see if I can donate platelets. I will next time I go!

What's wrong with driving 2 miles to work? *puzzled*

It's such a waste of petrol (and therfore money), it actually takes longer to drive some days because of the traffic (not so much in the morning, but coming home at 5pm...ugh. bad.) and I could really use the exercise. Especially now I'm sitting behind a desk all day and not doing the same kind of physical work during the day.

When I was walking to work, I filled my petrol tank up on February payday. I didn't put a single drop more in until May payday. I've been driving to work for the last few weeks and gone through nearly a full tank in a month. That alone is worth the two mile walk.

So there's nothing wrong with it per se, but the benefits of walking instead are huge.
